What will students learn at this event?

Students will be taught the very basics of computer programming by building a project. At the end of the event, students will have a functioning project (depending on the theme, they can build a game or an app!) Students will also be provided workshops on various careers in computing (Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, AI, Data Science, and more)

Why is attending an event like this valuable?

How much does the event cost?

It is free!

Do students need to bring anything to the event?

No, students do not need to bring anything to the event except themselves, we will provide computers, food, and drinks! There is availability for students to stay overnight closer to the event more information will be provided.

Will there be plenty of adults and security at this event?

Yes! UAT staff and the Coding in Color staff will be there overseeing all students and activities. There is security and doors will lock at specific times. All students will be chaperoned and if staying the night will have a curfew.

Can I volunteer at this event?

Yes! Parents or guardians can feel free to volunteer whenever we have an event. Subscribe to our newsletter for the next volunteering opportunity!

How long is the summer camp?

Our summer camps run for 5 days. In that time, students learn the material and then build projects together. At these events, students work on their ideas during the day, then have the choice to stay in the dorms for a full college experience, or go home and come back the next day ready to learn more.

What kinds of activities will take place?

Each day there is a different topic for students to learn. Sometimes these topics connect, and other times they are related more loosely. Since this is a summer camp, students will also have opportunities to talk with professors, attend college readiness seminars, and enjoy the college experience.

Previous Summer Camp Agenda

Are parents required to chaperone since the event is overnight?

Parents are not required to attend but can fill out the volunteer form when an event takes place. Summer camp is similar to school where students remain in a single area with mentors and teachers overseeing them and the activities.

If I am unable to attend this event, what future opportunities are there?
