About the Camp

Coding in Color's Summer AI Camp is a week-long residential experience hosted at the University of Advancing Technology (UAT). Campers will engage in hands-on projects, artificial intelligence workshops, team challenges, and networking opportunities designed to inspire the next generation of technology leaders.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Summer Camp Instructor to help deliver engaging learning experiences, mentor students, and support a positive residential camp environment.

Position Summary

The Summer Camp Instructor will lead instructional sessions, assist students with AI and programming projects, and serve as a residential mentor throughout the camp. Instructors will receive curriculum materials and participate in mandatory training prior to camp. This position requires staying overnight in university housing with students for the duration of the camp.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate coding and artificial intelligence workshops using provided curriculum and instructional materials

  • Support students as they work on projects and collaborate with peers

  • Encourage creativity, problem-solving, and active participation in camp activities

  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

  • Participate in mandatory training sessions prior to camp to review curriculum and instructional expectations

  • Supervise and mentor students throughout residential camp activities

  • Stay overnight in university housing from July 13–17, 2026

  • Oversee students and ensure student safety in the evenings (schedule will be provided)

  • Collaborate with Coding in Color staff, volunteers, and university partners to ensure a successful camp experience

  • Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for Coding in Color

Compensation

  • Stipend provided

  • All meals and on-campus housing included during the camp week

  • Professional development and leadership experience working with students in technology education

Qualifications

  • Junior, senior, or graduate-level student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered

  • Demonstrated proficiency in programming and technology concepts

  • Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring, camp counseling, or leadership experience preferred

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and volunteers

  • Available for the full camp week and required training sessions

While this is a temporary summer position, instructors may be considered for future opportunities with Coding in Color during the fall and spring semesters based on organizational needs and availability.
